I saw this on the local c-list and went to take a look. The current owner bought it from the original owner to turn 1 spindle and now he is trying to get his $100.00 back. It comes with a bunch of chisels, mostly amt but a couple home made. One out of a chainlink fence part and another out of a retired file (no kidding. Also included are 4 face plates. Comes with a sleeve bearing appliance motor. Actually runs pretty smooth for only weighing around 50 or 60 pounds total.

This makes a shopsmith seem like the Rolls Royce of wood working equipment. How this was mass produced without a law suit is beyond my understanding. It was very rickety. My understanding is that it was sold as a kit with the hardware and you supplied the wood. I believe it sold thru Popular Mechanics.

The drill press feature requires the head stock end tilted up with chuck installed and the tailstock having a table installed. Then (get this) you turn the handle on the tailstock and raise the table up into the spinning bit.

He had the original instructions. I sadly (yeah right)told him that it was not heavy duty enough for what I would be doing and he allowed me to snap some pics. It was sold the next day for ?$

Had the economy not been so bad, I might have snapped it up just for fun.
