I think this press is from somewhere around the 1930's It originally came out of the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet NY near Albany. It belonged to a guy who was a tool maker there during the early 1900. There is aprox 6" of travel to the drill and it has a No. 500 ball bearing Jacobs Chuck and has about 11 small oiler caps, one at every joint. The speed can be varied by four different settings on the drive pullys and it is powered by a 1/4 HP electric motor made by GE in Schnectady NY. It has 2 tables for drilling, one upper one that can tilt both left/right and front/backOver, the table below is forked for drilling through a piece of metal. Also has brass/bronze geear and the upper shaft is brass/bronze along with an automatic feed and depth stop/shut off. Over all hiegh it 5 ft aprox. It is an interesting piece that blends elements of hand powered post drills with electricity and precision. If anyone knows anything more about this typ of drill please let me know.
