I took this completely apart, much of the oil had turned to sludge. Amazingly, even the bearings were in great shape. Pulled the quill apart as well as the chuck. The Chuck, quill, tapered shaft, post and table and base tops were wet sanded then run across a buffer pad(s) with compound. After seeing some of the work you guys do, I feel like this is quite rough! So, sometime soon, there will be some further effort of polishing up. The motor on this press was an Atlas Super Power, which is the final step in cleaning up, other than a friend making new walnut knobs. The ultimate reward for me is that my dad is very happy his dad's tool has been gone through and cleaned up.
