Found this at a friends and he's promised it to me for a $100.00 when he's ready to sell. It's outside under his covered patio and more rustic than rusty. I looked it over briefly and tested it for function. I was mesmerized by the texture of the cast iron. The machine tag tells about all the info that I have so far.

Update. P.O. was needing the space so he sent me home with this guy and pulled another drill out of his garage to take his place. He runs smooth on the highest speed. He has a 3 inch diameter column. Motor appears to be the original Hoover ball bearing motor of the same vintage however the motor pulley does not match the quill pulley dimensionally. Information leads me to believe he was recently retired from a local school wood shop. Kind of guessing the original color to be dark grey with a blue hue or maybe green.

I was going to just wipe him down and use him but now I think I'll scrub him down and repaint him and use him. He weighs about 160 pounds.

I have a few more pictures available upon request and I'll update if and when his restoration is complete.

Another update: Great drill press. I've been using him to help restore some other stuff. I can feel and hear a little vibration when I have the quill extended all the way so he'll need going through at some point. I ran a 12 inch sanding disk in the chuck to smooth out another drill table with no problem. Definitely a keeper.
