Buss 4L 30" Planer bought at the Nichols & Stone Auction Sept 9th 2008 in Gardner Mass. The oldest chair making firm in the country sadly closed its doors selling off all machinery much of which was of historic value and one of kind to the high end chair making industry. The auction started at 10am and lasted until almost midnight long after I left. Obviously should have been scheduled for two days but the auctioneers dropped the ball. This planer was used as a finish planer only and during the past ten or more years was only involved in producing sample or short run pieces. Unlike most of the 4L's this one is belt drive ( an option ) and had a 575V 15HP cutterhead motor and 2HP feed motor. Machine has the one shot oiling system, customary micrometer lower bed roll adjustment, control lever setting for pressure bar, six wedge style adjustable machine leveler jacks, original dust hood, and the knife grinder and travel bar and various tools and parts in the side lockers. The spare knives, grinding stones and jointing fixture went missing.
