Comments:
I acquired this Fay & Egan Drum and Disc sander from the new owners of the mental hospital in Poughkeepsie,NY.The sander lay on the floor of the shop thrown about in pieces.Havin been stripped of its dignity by some unknown vandals. Then to have things made worse its base was sold off to a person who has no interest in the machine or any other machine for that matter but to make some kind of industrial furniture for the rich.I have ran into this person before at auctions biddings up any machine that has legs or bases that he can use for his so called art (industrial furniture)and to discard or scrap the rest of the machine.I am planning to build some kind of base so i can reattach the table for the disc sander.I was able to find all the rest of the parts including the loose pulley and tables. The worse part is that the height and tilt for the disc table was part of the base. The tables for the drum sander are removable for curve work.I am including a print of the machine from a Fay & Egan No.110 catalog (1921-22).
