This is a Delta/Rockwell Homecraft 43-110 light duty shaper that I picked up on a trip to Seattle in the summer of 2008. It came with a 1/2" spindle and a 1/2 HP Delta motor. I bought it from the daughter of the previous owner. Sometime before I acquired it, it was repainted in the green colour.

Since I decided to live with the green for now, it was a relatively easy restoration job – no paint stripping required. I derusted the tabletop, and cleaned all the dust and grime off the rest of it. I replaced the bearings in the spindle housing with new ones from NTN. Have not replaced the motor bearings yet. I may do a quick motor repaint and bearing replacement in the future.

I exchanged the ½” spindle with a new one from CGG Schmidt designed to hold router bits. I know that some folks don’t approve of this mod, but I think it’ll work for the kind of work I do. This required some cheesy looking blocks under the table to raise it up as the new spindle is higher than the original. I kept all the original parts so it’s easy to swap it back to original if need be.
