Hey,
Happy new year!
Here's a little cream puff saw I bought at an online auction a couple of years ago. The saw was represented as a 5 HP, 3 phase saw, but when it arrived it is a 3 HP single phase motor. I liked the condition of the saw so much I decided to keep it anyway. It's all original speckled paint, and the saw had never been rusty, and the ways are not worn. I did want a little more HP for what I was going to use it for, and considered either passing the saw on to someone that needs single phase or changing the motor. Bob Kloes just gave me a 7 1/2 HP, 3 Ph motor which will bolt right up, Thanks Bob! Eric gave us the original DeWalt table, which is very cool, Thanks Eric! I had never seen an original table for one of these before.
Some guys don't want to have these saws around any more but I think they are great. Notice in the first pic the stack of 12" carbide tipped dado blades/groovers. These aren't like a regular dado set; there are 2- 3/4" wide blades, 1/2", 3/8" & 1/4". One of the things I use this for is half lap joints in timbers, among other custom millwork operations. I'll be using that 7 1/2 HP for the dado operations and should be able to do about a 2" wide dado in one pass.
