This was found as a rusted scrap of junk to be thrown out after my aunt died in 1968. My uncle had died 10 years earlier. Restored it myself. The 11"x43" lathe shown in the 1931 Boice-Crane is very similar but has bronze bearings and a wide three step pulley. My lathe has a four step pulley and ballbearings. The lathe is very heavy and very stable, allowing fairly large diameter turnings. There is very little run our at the head stock bearings..
