When I originally bought this machine in the early '80's from Moore and Whittington in Victoria, a man from Dalzeal's Box Co up the street told me the following. He started his working life on this machine. It was brought around the Horn the year before the Panama Canal opened and bolted down. He stated that it had done the trim, wainscoting and moldings for all the now heritage houses in Victoria and, and as such should stay in town. I set it up and ran it for 8 years, eventually selling it during a marriage breakup. The next 2 owners ran it to scrap value. A neighbour asked me if I'd redo it for him. I replaced the side head babbits with ball bearings, otherwise she's pretty much original. I ran 3/8"copper tubing to the hard/unsafe to reach journals from manifolds on the top. Only problem right now is a .005 out of parallel between the top and bottom heads-doesn't show up until we stack up 60 pieces of wainscoting and the pile starts to get crooked.
