This machine was purchased used around 1994 by my father in NorthEastrn Ohio. At the time it had recently had new bearings and a new arbor shaft installed. It also was wearing a really junky 2hp motor hanging off of a piece of plywood attached with a door hinge to the real motor mount. He upgraded to new and shiny 5hp saw and gave this to me around 2000. I then acquired a 5hp motor that need some work for $5.00. Had it repaired/rebuilt for $80 and hung it on the saw, oh what a difference. I have finally gotten to the point of wanting to do more than construction work with it. I will be building kitchen cabinets in the next few months and need the blade aligned with the miter slot. It is currently over a 1/4" off from front to back on the table. I had to dismantle the saw to remove the dowels on the rear trunion to allow for alignment. In the process I learned that I needed to have the shaft that lifts the blade turned to re-square a bearing surface to prevent a catastrophic casting failure under the saw. I will have the saw re-assembled as soon as I get the parts back from the machinest and will then install a brand new 40" Vega fence on the saw and be ready to build cabinets with a good fence and a properly aligned arbor. At this point the saw should be good to go for many more decades of use without significant issues.
