Comments:
I acquired this lathe from my fiance's grandfather's shop, including original kit of turning tools, instructions and lathe manuals, face plates, spare spindle (fresh!) with spare oilite bearings and motor. It's really in fantastic condition considering the environment in an uninsulated garage in central New York state near a lake, and I really underestimated how much fun it was to make round things. Great instant gratification when everything else in the shop seems like too much trouble. Turns out the original owner was an honest-to-goodness Free Mason, and hopefully they'll let me keep the lathe . . .

Has anyone had a more modern threaded spindle cut for this older series of lathes? Would it be worth it?
