This is the first real woodworking tool I have owned, given to me by my father-in-law. It is a Craftsman model 103.22161 8" bench saw. This model was built in 1956 by King-Seeley and has a cast iron top with two cast iron wings. Even though it is an old tool it was free and after finding a copy of the original owner's manual at Old Woodworking Machines I was able to adjust it so it cuts nice and square.

The stand it is on was also given to my by my father-in-law and I installed the power switch and new cord to the 3/4 hp original motor. The arbor was originally only 1/2" so I could not find any blades to fit it without having to use bushings so I sent it off to my father, who of course, knows a guy that owns a machine shop and had the bearing/arbor assembly replaced with a 5/8" version. Now I can run any 8" blade that I can find and it runs well. Even ripping Red Oak the blade does not bind at a good feed rate. The main problem with the saw is that the table is small and although the fence is square to the blade, it only has a ripping capacity of 16" or so. Since my shop is small and the saw was free it will do just fine until my skills improve and I get a dedicated shop when my wife and I buy a house. The mobile base that the saw is on is the HTC 2000 Universal Mobile Base and I would highly recommend it for anyone with a small shop.
