I bought this lathe several years ago with 'the variable speeds are funny' and the beds brazed together. When I got it home, I turned the motor pulley around so it faced the right direction and viola! variable speeds. I made lots of lures, a couple of newel posts and balusters with it and some bedposts. All in all it worked very well for it's age and minimal care. I was going to do a full resto but got another 12" lathe instead so I cleaned this one up and sold it to a retiring school teacher who is going to make beds with it. Inside the tail stock wheel was stamped 'AP' and the extra bed was stamped 10- 4482(sorry, the photo's didn't come out). I separated the beds and found that someone had cut both to put them together. I had angle iron welded in to bolt them down and straight, but since they were cut, a complete resto won't be possible. Still a good user lathe though.
