I found this saw in the San Francisco Craigslist for $500. I didn't argue, was first caller and was told there were dozens in waiting if I didn't take it.
I've given this saw a name, which stems from history below.
I was given the following information about "Turner" the table saw by the surviving son:
My Dad, Tom Turner, was a master craftsman, journeyman carpenter from 1946 until his death in 2008. He acquired his General Contractor's license in 1956, and opened his business, T.A. Turner Construction, which he ran until 1968, when he joined United Artists Theater Circuit. His contracting business was devoted to building custom homes in San Francisco, Hillsboro. Atherton, Piedmont, and other locations in the Bay Area. He also specialized in custom home remodeling and additions. He maintained a complete cabinet shop in several different locations in San Francisco, throughout the years, where his many shop tools were used to build custom cabinets and mill work for his clients. After he taught the trade to me, and I became a journeyman carpenter, he decided to close his business and went to work for United Artists Theater Circuit, doing maintenance on their many buildings and drive-inn theaters throughout California and parts of Nevada. He built 2 new theaters with them, 1 in Stonestown Shopping Center, and a drive-inn in Oroville, Ca. He also remodeled, or built new, concession counters in numerous theaters and drive-inns over his 20 years of employment with them, until his retirement in 1988.
After that time his tools were stored at his home in Pacifica, Ca. where he used them to build little projects for the home he shared with our mother, and the homes of his 8 children and their families.
Tom, I hope the saw gives you as much service and joy of using it as it gave my Dad.
Tom Turner
