Bought this jointer off of another owwm'r-"Tools" for 100 dollars. It was a shipwreck to say the least. It was in use by a cabinet maker in KY until one of the workers dumped the coals from the coal burning stove into the sawdust pit. This of course caught the cabinet shop on fire and this jointer made it out without any water hitting it or extreme heat. The edges of the tables droop a little but I think this is from its age and not from the heat or mistreatment. I might have it blanchard ground if they affect the performance of the jointer. The jointer weighs about 1200 pounds and is a pretty cool old HEAVY machine. The fence on it alone weighs 80 lbs. I still have to get a motor for it and then it should be good to go. The orginal cutter head was a square cutter head with babett bearings but the cabinet maker put a modern 3 blade cutter head on it. I bought new bearings and painted this really cool blag with gold lettering. An idea that came from another owwm'r-Kudzu, who restored another H&B that I think was a little newer than mine. His fence is different and he has one handwheel per table and mine has two handwheels per table. Update 2023...i have moved this to my new house('er 6 yrs ago) and now have this baby up and running again. After getting it restored I quickly realized the tables were so drooped(1/8 on the corners) that it had to be fixed. Had both tables blanchard ground and that really makes this machine even more enjoyable to use. Here is a youtube vide of it in action https://youtu.be/f-Ry2xtpMy8?si=wMhRNvDTaXdDq7PP
