Comments:
Bought in 2003 from millworks that was retooling. Has babbitt bearings, and the bottom axle is long enough to have once had a flat pulley instead of the current two-belt pulley. Painted badge reads "Famous." Also has screwed-on badge from the Hermance Machine Company, Williamsport, PA, but I'm guessing that Hermance sold the machine as a dealer in used machinery, not as the manufacturer. The first two pictures are before I dragged it home. The other two pictures show it in my shop in December, 2008. The picture from the left side shows the brush I added and the UHMW blade guides that replaced the identical wooden blade guides. I also clamped a 2.5" dust port around the blade and hook my shop vac up when I'm cutting. I'm still working on guards for the wheels. It's powered by a 1.5 hp motor that once powered a church organ.
