Picked up this planer 09/2008 from somewhat local OWWM'er Kris Wild.
Came with a 1 HP Craftsman motor that I first put new bearings into and gave a rattlecan repaint using the closest matching automotive touch up colours I could find at the local Canadian Tire (kind of a Schucks / Pep Boys place). I'm trying to source a larger motor, like 2 HP for it, but will use this in the meanwhile.
Stripped it down and started cleaning and splooging. First splooge experience - wow it works great! Getting the gearbox off the outfeed roller shaft was a royal pain.
12/08 update. Got it stripped down, cleaned, repainted and mostly reassembled. Just need to dig up the right sized drill bit to tap the holes for the oil seal, then it will be done. Funny what can slow you down. Now working on an MDF base for it while finishing up the last of the assembly.
01/2010 update. Built a base for it, got it all put back together, adjusted correctly, and making shavings with it. Not 100% happy with it though, it goes out of level when I raise or lower the table, plus the stock binds on the way through. More tweaking required!
I'm very keen to get this finished. It will be a happy day when this wheels into my shop and the asian lunchbox screamer goes out!
More info to come.
