This bandsaw was given to my sister who was working maintenance in an old shoe factory. It was used in the factory for many years. She gave it to me,but I had no place to store it for nearly 12 years.I built a new woodshop last summer and finally moved the saw to its new home. It weighs about 600lbs. and was a chore to move on a trailer. It has 32" wheels,a 30"x 34" main table. It was converted at some point from a flatbelt drive to a pulley.Upper and lower bearings are babbit. It has no markings of any kind other than a badge. I installed a new blade and clamped on a temporary motor just to see how it would run.The tires are cracked pretty bad but it tracks perfect with slight adjustment of the upper wheel.Cuts kiln dried oak like balsa. It had been fitted with a angle iron/sheet metal housing to serve as a guard which I removed first thing. It has a badge: THE FAIR MACHINERY Co. MACHINERY-MOTORS-EQUIPMENT, CINCINNATTI, OHIO #3378. The guides are BALDWIN,TUTHILL and BOLTON and are complete except for a back roller on the bottom guide. I think the first coat of black paint is original. It has some minor rust spots near the bottom and some small pits on the main table.Still in great shape for a saw this old.I think this is a Silver saw, however, no saw currently on OWWM has the same base design
Edit - One of our members identified this saw for us as a Sidney. The original entry date for this post was 9/20/2008. It was updated on 6/10/2012. Admin/DG
