Comments:
I bought this machine in the fall of 2008, clean it up, installed a 3 hp single phase motor and put it into service in my shop. The previous owner purchased it from someone in New Brunswick and brought it to Nova Scotia to use in his home workshop. He decided to sell it as his floor space was limited and the machine was not used enough to justify the space (This much I know as fact). When I asked the person selling the shaper to me about it's history explained that he was told it was from a school, community collage, or factory by the person he purchased it from. I guess that this was some years ago as there was little available accurate information on it's history or exact age, unfortunate really as I like to have a "feel for" the history of all of my old equipment. However the number painted on the side of the machine suggests that a factory or community college may have been it’s first home. Note the hole cut on the left side of the cabinet, I suspect that a previous owner cut this hole so that the motor could be mounted on the side allowing the machine to be placed closer to the wall. I will post finished pictures when I put it into service. Update.... I now have this machine up and running, a cleanup of the machined surfaces and some electricts, but true to form no new paint. All my attention on function and none on the form... Pictures to come soon.
