This jointer is a 6” Oliver 144, probably from the mid 40’s. The Oliver badge with the serial number is currently packed into some box cause I’m moving the shop it lived in about 9 miles down the road. I bought it about 3-4 years ago from a friend and promptly stuffed it into a rat hole and forgot about it. He had it in his shop for a couple/few years. He got it from the closed shipyard in Charlestown Mass. I believe it hasn’t been used or been able to run for 15+ years. Still what’s there is in very good shape, nothing is frozen; the beds are the most rusted. On the down side the lower left corner got knocked off sometime and the knives, gibs, jackscrews, jamb nuts and motor support are all missing. I bet years ago someone was going to sharpen the blades and it never went back together. I am planning on rebuilding the jointer this winter. Right now I’m tossing around whether to replace the missing parts from the cutter head or just replace the entire thing with a new one.
