The last photos of this drill press was in 2006. At that time, I wasn't too happy about the bench base being used as a floor base. Too wobbly. Also, I don't like using a wrench to loosen the nut on the head locking bolt. The switch rod method was okay for a while, but I sure miss the old push button types that were used on many dps in my younger days.
Since then, I've swapped the the column and base with a 1937 DP-220 I bought two months ago that has the floor base. Now, the DP-225 is much more stable on the floor. The nut on the locking bolt and the bolt itself were replaced with a DP-217 handle plus serrated nut and a longer bolt. The switch rod and the switch in the motor were replaced with a C-H push button type that I bought from a fellow owwm member, and mounted on the front of the head.
Now, I'm very happy with the end results of the restoration of my DP-225 style drill press. Sweet running and stable machine, indeed! In fact, I took a special picture of it and reduced it to use it as as avatar in the owwm.org forums.
The DP-220? I'm working on restoring it. That will be another submission later.

The C-H switch looks just right for this dp.

Thinking about making a cover for the hole. An avatar of this is used in the .org forums.
