I was offered this machine via an email and after looking at a couple of photos, decided to take a look at it. The photos made it look much worse than it really was. I purchased it and brought it home, it weighs about 900 pounds. After cleaning it up and looking it over to see what it needed, I started going through it replacing bearings (there are 14) and missing parts and cleaning the bare metal of rust. It only has a couple of shallow mistake holes in the table and the ram is very tight and moves very freely. As most may know, it is adjustable up/down, in/out, rotate 360º,the head tips 45º left and right and it has 4 1/4" spindle travel. I have the original Driver Line motor but it is 3 phase and so I have temporarily replaced it with a 1/2 hp single phase motor. I wired out the reversing leads to a second switch to allow easy reversing. Not often needed, but handy sometimes. Of the 14 bearings 10 are 6203 and two are "special" but I got those from the Walker Turner guy in CT. I replaced the belts with AX series because of the small pulleys on the step pulleys. It is missing the cover for the spindle and I made one, but would like to find an original. I had to make two new arms for the ship's wheel and purchased all new knobs and also new knobs for the tilt from Mcmaster-Carr. Paint will have to wait for awhile.
