This was a very satisfying find. My young son and I went by an estate sale in Burnaby and asked the fellow there if he had any tools for sale. He said he did not, so I asked, “well what about that tablesaw over there?” He looked startled, as if he had forgotten about it and said I could have the saw for $25, but that he wanted the stand and motor to use with a grinder. It was no loss for me, the stand was just made out of old 2x2’s and plywood. Turns out that the saw had belonged to his dad, and this guy was well into his 60’s if not older.
I have done some cleanup on it, but I’d like to turn it into a user so there is still some work ahead. I don’t want to repaint it as I would probably lose the decal on it. I got a replacement shaft made for it since the original was no longer very round, but there is still a bit of wobble in the blade. It has a ½” arbor, which is a bit of an oddball but I kept it the same. It came with a fence, which I need to put into the splooge tank. There was no miter gauge. The single miter slot is only ½” wide by 1/8” deep. The top is also not flat, it droops a bit on one side. So it’ll be a fun challenge to restore it with my son.
According to the dirty paper on the MS this is a Walker Turner Driver Line B575 7” Bench Saw. The handles suggest it is 1937, as the earlier catalogs show different handles. Unfortunately there are no later catalogs posted yet.
