Comments:
This sander was part of one of the finest vocational cabinetmaking shops in New Jersey-- the Camden County Vocational School. I liberated it from a machinery dealer that was the lucky bidder on the shop's contents. He had about 2 dozen fine machines from the haul... a half-dozen or so were Oliver and the rest other respected names.

What's unusual is that there are very few of these sanders in the wild. This is the first the Chuck Hess has seen, however, he had an Oliver brochure and was very kind to share it with me. Thanks again, Chuck.

The motor is a Howell Severe Duty unit running at 1745 rpm and turning out 1 hp... 3-phase, of course. The shafts are 7/8" dia. with 9" between the threads and inside shoulder. Repainting and clean-up will occur shortly, I hope. I'll probably keep balloon heads on this machine, and save the Vonnegut head for another pedestal sander that sports an 1140 rpm motor speed.
