I purchased this from a Gentleman in NC. He had purchased from a widow, some 20 years prior. It had sat in his shed for 20 years untouched. This is one of the older style planers it has the oval shaped gear/rod cover, later models have a square box protecting the protruding rods.
It has the orginal 1 1/2 induction motor and is direct drive, but the motor is dead. The planer is a rust bucket, a few items are pitted. The pressure bars, cutterhead and part of the infeed and outfeed tables. Most of the planer under the coat of rust is very pristine. The gears show no wear, orginal grease, chain looks new and the belts have no cracks but they are not the cheap all rubber kind. This is a long complete tear down to remove all rust. The rust has actually frozen up a lot of the moving parts or made them a bear to move.
One of the things that I like the most is her sheer size and weight. She tips the scales at whopping 540 with motor and the stand weighs 115 pounds. Very stout planer!
