This planer is at a local, (Beverly, MA) pattern shop. I first knew of it about 35 years ago when it was part of the Claude H. Patton vocational school in the same city. This is the first planer I ever used and it was made available to Beverly residents via the night classes at the school, which was shut down by the suits in the 1990s. Too bad, as they had mostly equipment of the same caliber. This planer was bought by Beverly Pattern when the school closed, as well as a Northfield 3 toed jointer. I do not know what happened to all the other wonderful machinery this shop had though.
One thing that I do love about this machine is the fact that all of the signatures that kids from the school put on there are still there. I guess it was a custom at the school to sign this beast. There are names from the 1960s and many who are still in the trades to this day. This school taught a wide range of woodworking skills too, patternmaking, cabinetry, and carpentry.
