Comments:
There seems to be very little known about the machinery built by Dwight Slate in Hartford, CT during the 1800's. My father gave me this lathe 20 years ago. He was a stationery fireman and saved it from the scrap yard. It was used in the repair shop at one of the old coal fire boiler plants that he worked at. Only recently while cleaning my cellar, I took interest in the lathe and cleaned it up. My interest/hobby is old cars and wood working. I have a respect for all old well built machinery and those who built them such as Dwight Slate. I am posting a recent photo to share it with others. Anything anyone can tell me about it would be appreciated. I am not selling the lathe. It is unique and truly vintage.
