Oliver 115-D, 38" Band Saw. Serial # 200858, 1969. 12-15-07
Well I'm not the lucky owner of this saw this time. I did have the pleasure of moving it from Pittsburg area to Asheville. I say pleasure because anytime you have one of these on the trailer there is no shame in that! It was covered for most of the trip but when that finally started disintegrating (its hard to keep a cover on something 9' tall) I removed the cover at our last fuel stop, because we had sunny weather for the remainder of the trip. As soon as I did some lady came running across the parking lot and said that was the biggest saw she had ever seen. This is a beautiful and impressive saw with original paint. It also must have the largest Oliver badge in captivity, that thing is huge!
The saw was wired for 480 volt, and the new owner asked me if I knew how to wire it to 240 voltage. I quickly informed him that I'm a master electrician, and gradgiated from the RonJoeRayBob Lectrical University. I also quickly started getting out some tools, and was sort of glad to have the chance to hear this baby run. It has a 7 1/2 HP 720 RPM Direct Drive Motor. Very cool saw and I was sad to see it leave my shop.
Yall let another nice Oliver slip through your fingers! Oh well...
Merry Christmas,
Chuck
