Bandsaw was acquired in 2004 from "Portes et fenetres Chantecler Ltee", a window manufacturer in Gatineau, Quebec. I understand that at one time it played a role in the manufacturing of wooden frame windows but after production became 100% PVC they had no need for it anymore. I do not know if they were the original owners of the saw. I acquired it for $20! Invested around $500 and 30 hours of work for a new 2HP TEFC Baldor motor, installing new tires, installing new guide bearings, removing a lot of surface rust and a paint job. Best thing about this investment is that I now know my saw inside out since I took apart completely. The aluminum wheels are covered with a single stamped steel door bolted to a cast iron frame. The table and base are also cast iron. The upper and lower blade guide assemblies are all bearings: One thrust bearing and one guide bearing on each side of the blade for each assembly. Both sides of each wheel have a channel grooved around the perimeter, into which fit small moveable weights for balancing the wheels. Made is a breeze to re-balance the wheels after I installed new tires.

Unit after acquisition and overhaul. I kept the company logo in its original color...out of respect I guess.
