This unique saw comes from the sash and door shop called the Woodworks of Renfrew, in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada. The contents of the shop have recently been acquired by Vernon Fairhead of Shawville, Quebec, with whose permission these photos are posted. The frame is of massive wooden construction with 3 cross braces in a "cupid's bow" pattern. The upper arm, wheel bearing, and tension mechanism are cast iron. The tilting table is wood with alternating strips of oak and mahogany. The wheels are 36" diameter with cast iron hubs, steel spokes, and wood rims with traces of red paint. The original blue paint is crackled but intact on the frame. One wooden foot has been cut away to accomodate a lateral drive belt. On the column is a brass badge that reads "Sold by MacGregor Gourlay & Co." The actual maker is still a mystery. If anyone recognizes the saw, please let me know.
