One day back in 2006 I got in my car to go to work. It happened to be trash day, and as I spun around the block in ow-wuh feh-yuh city, (Cambridge, MA), what do my wonderin' eyes see sitting on the curb but what turned out to be a Craftsman 103.0213 benchtop table saw, shrouded in rust.
Well, my WWing tools were all built in the 1990's and work quite well for the task, but as I have a fondness for all things vintage, I couldn't leave it. I think I drove in reverse for a block because it took me that long to properly recognize the potential that this moment represented in my life with woodworking tools.
So, I took it home and rat-holed it for about a year while life kept me busy. Then, in the spring of 2007 I finally dragged it out and took it on.
Now, I suppose a Craftsman bench top saw is about as common-place as a Bailey #4 hand plane, but it is of early 1940's vintage. I decided that it would make a very good practice/learning project. Once I finish this training exercise, I can decide whether I have it in me to take on some bigger game.
The project is still in progress at this writing. Search owwm.org for username gordonjlee to see in progress pictures. I will add after pictures when it is finished.

The miter gauge was firmly rusted in the slot. Aerokroil got it loose, after many applications.
