This is a "Famous" brand jointer. It is unusual in that the combined infeed and outfeed table length is only 60", which is short for a 12" jointer. It was a basket case acquired in parts with a motor but without a stand. The machine has been completely restored and a base was made out of plywood with an internal chip chute. The jointer sits on a custom HTC mobile base. The jointer is powered by a three horsepower Baldor single phase motor. The motor was in poor condition, but was complete and worth rebuilding. The motor sits directly below the cutting head pulley inside the plywood base. The bearings and capacitors were replaced and the motor was de-rusted and painted two-tone gray with black end caps. The basic jointer is of very high quality. The tables are within a .001" of being flat. A sub-table allows the infeed and out feed tables to be moved away from the cutting head which eases the blade changing process. Both tables have inclined ways on all four corners which facilitates "perfect" leveling. The cutting head has only two knives, but the machine cut extremely well.
