This combo machine was mislisted in an on-line ad as an "Old Craftsman Table Saw" with a crummy picture that didn't show anything useful. The seller noted that it had been his grandfather's machine for decades and had been used to make much fine furniture, but had been sitting out in the barn for 10 years or so. He said he was moving out of the country in several days, and if it didn't sell by the weekend, he was going to include it in a dump run on Sunday. I sent him a note indicating that I wasn't interested in purchasing it at his asking price, and that I hoped he would be successful selling it, but also that if he still had it on Sunday, I was only 10 minutes away and would be glad to come over to take a look at it and possibly take it for parts, motor, whatnot.
When I got there, we stumbled through the junk in the barn and I saw immediately that it was actually a Homecraft combo in remarkably good shape and absolutely complete, including fence, miter gauge, mobility system, multiple inserts, and several original manuals. I gave him a bit of history on what the machine actually is and then gladly loaded it on my truck. Once I got it home, I decided to do a full restoration, with the only part needed being new bearings. After it came out so nice, I debated briefly whether to keep it, but ended up selling it three weeks to the day from the day I brought it home, and very happy to have returned this to service rather than becoming landfill.
