Just found this on a regional online classifieds. At first, thought it was a General 15" band saw just like the one I have. Turns out it was not exactly that. In fact, it is a 15" band saw but it was made by Continental Machinery Co. from Montral, Quebec, Canada, probably in the 1940s. It is almost identical to the General model 190, apart from a few details like the back of the upper wheel which does not have a plate to hide the wheel, a few knobs and some minor cosmetic details. I suspect that somewhere in the 40s or 50s the Continental Machinery Co. was either sold to Poitras and then to General or to General directly, or the rights were acquired by General to manufacture this model under their name. I tend to think that the first option is the right one.
Will be cleaning this one up, building an appropriate stand and firing this one up sometimes during Winter or next Spring.
