This machine was originally sold by Rudolf Bass in New York and was found 59 years later at a barn sale in Atlanta, Ga. for $60.00. It came with a 1.5 horse Dayton motor. It required a complete strip down and rebuild, all new bearings. So, now it is a $300 bandsaw. The transmission is in excellent shape; however, it is currently set up for wood only. I have not been able to find the appropriate step pulley for the motor.
The 8 inch pulley and the key slot on the shaft was were messed up. I was able to replace the pulley with a double sheave cast iron pulley from Grizzly that rides better on the good part of the shaft. Can anyone advise if the newer 8 inch pulley with the disconnect will work on this machine?
It runs very smoothly and is a pleasure to use.
