Hi
This saw came up on Craigs list It is a Rockwell model 34-466 SN LA3034 with a newer single phase 3 horse motor no broken castings. Missing dust door, motor cover, 1 lock knob, miter gage, fence and rails. Asking 275.00 with cant talk him down with so many others calling, so I bought it. After I got it home I found some spindle damage cleaned and painted the cabinet new bearings, belts, spindle, and spindle nuts 250.00.
This saw is made differently than all the manuals show. The stock pointer bracket was never screwed to the front trunnion, as the trunnion was never drilled and taped for the bracket. Loose on the shaft was a short section of steel tubing. One end of this tube fit snugly over the end of the shaft bearing the shaft locks press on the inside of this tube. There is a larger hole in the trunnion for a steel pointer. After a lot of searching I found reference to another saw made the same way whose owner referred to it as a Uniquesaur I decided not drill and tap the trunnion. Like most woodtuners I love CA glue (cyanoacrylate adhesive or super glue) so I glued the tube to the bearing. The shaft lock seems to work fine so far.
Now I am cleaning the top I cant believe that rust can be so uniform it seems like a thick layer of red brown paint. The Biesemeyer fence is on order.
Walt
