It all started with an email. It came from a guy named Mike Hutton in Lynnwood, Wash. He asked if I was interested in restoring an old Delta wood shaper. I asked if he could send some pictures of it. He did. When I saw the pixs and got more infos from him, I knew I was in trouble again ;-)! So, I went to his home and, expecting a sad case, was surprised at the fine condition of it. He even had several 3-lip cutters and two "safety cutters" with blades in them. The price was 75 bucks. The only major downside is the Delta stand with a homemade wooden adapter board to fit the shaper to it.
When I got home that day, I tore into it. It is in very good condition, despite the rust and the "ugh" paint job. Replaced the board with 1/4" steel plate. The wooden fences were substituted by oak, which are longer. I was thinking of making another set of wood fences which would be taller and shorter for tall projects. The bearings I will replace.
I know someone will tell me that this shaper is a 1180. Yes, the shaper itself. It's the belt guards and the motors. I found that there are two versions of this shaper. The 1199 version has a different belt guard and the motor has more HP with the forward/reversing switching on it.
As for right now, it is almost completed. Will post a few more pixs later.

Comments: As you can see, the stand isn't the right one. The adapter plate solved that problem.

Comments: The F/R switch is done, but the 915 motor will be the last part of the restore.
