I acquired this machine from Nebraska Tool Mart. It wasn't being sold for a bottom feeder price, but it was pretty complete and the dealer even delivered it to within 1/2 mile of my house.
After sandblasting off all the rust and old paint, I primed it and painted it with a color matched spray paint. I also replaced the bearings in the headstock and the motor. The motor originally had a pull-rod for the switch, but I took that off and wired up a toggle starter. The handwheel on the outboard end of the spindle is for a General brand lathe, but it looks better than the original Delta ones and it was readily available. I have an extra tool rest base that I'm going to restore so that I can use the 24" tool rest. I had a countershaft from another lathe that I was planning to use on this lathe, but when I tried it out and I wasn't happy with the way it worked, so I put the original motor and pulley setup back on it.
This lathe was made in 1956. I think this is around the time that Delta discontinued the old style tailstock that is shown on this lathe, so it must be one of the last ones made before they switched to the newer style.
