Comments:
This machine was a part of a group of woodworking tools originally used by the National Showcase Company of Columbus Georgia. In 1953-54 it was purchased by Charles Howell and his brother who set up shop in Phenix City, AL building cabinetry, and displays for the nearby Bickerstaff Brick yards. He closed the shop in 1997. Most of the machinery has been converted to electric motor drive (3-phase), but most of the old pulleys were saved and still with the machines.
This machine has an interesting clue to help date it. Previous operators have signed their names and dated on the dust collector (photo included). The earliest date was from March 26, 1902 (A. G. Grissom?)and the latest date was from 1946. Other dates and names include: Jan (or Jun?)4, 1909; J. D. Haden Aug 1, 1921; J. A. Johnston July 13th 1925; J. C. Duncan Jan 18, 1929; and J. J. Barbee (?) Aug 22, 1939. There are some others but that was all my young eyes could decipher. What a treasure to find though!

Serial number stenciled on.
