This machine was a part of a group of woodworking tools originally used by the Medley Company Columbus Georgia [made foundry molds for Columbus area iron works]. It was purchased by Charles Howell and his brother who set up shop in Phenix City, AL building cabinetry, and displays for the nearby Bickerstaff Brick yards. He closed the shop in 1997. It has a home made guard that obscures the H B Smith name. There is a gold stencil reading "1335" on the back which I have now discovered is the serial number.
