Those who have seen her in person testify she is 2400lbs of madness. Will I ever need a 20" Jointer? Likely, no. Could I resist? Of course not.
Right now she ain't pretty - but with a little work, she'll be a beauty.
I bought this machine from a guy that scours auctions around Southwestern Ontario, and generally keeps his ear to the ground for machines on the market. I found him, and got what I think is a sweet deal for a machine in this condition and size. He generally does metal-working machines and confesses he doesn't know much about woodworking equipment.
It was listed as a 16" machine with little use from a pattern shop. Turned out it was a 20" machine, so the machine size was a huge surprise. I tested the machine and it had all of its functions in working condition (including the brake and simultaneous shut-off!).
One man alone can not even budge this cast iron creature.
It is my first Oliver - and definitely not the last. Its massive size dominates the shop atmosphere - and makes all of the other machines look like light duty toys.
