I picked up this saw via eBay auction and won with the opening bid of $35 on December 10, 2006. This saw was plug-and-play when I purchased it, but I wanted to restore it anyway. It wasn't the prettiest saw in the world.

I finished this saw restoration on September 2, 2007. I complete broke the saw down to each piece. I wire-wheeled every nut and bolt. I wire-wheeled, primed and painted the parts with Rustoleum dark machine gray. This is the Delta Specialty, so it had that little painted on tag, which I was able to save. Before I stripped the paint off, I maked off the area around the tag, and applied a few coats of automotive clear coat over the tag. Than, once that dried, I masked off the tag, and went to town on everything else. For the two bars, I did the lathe trick from this post, http://www.owwm.com/PhotoIndex/detail.asp?id=19.

The motor is a 1905 Westinghouse motor. It's as stron now as I'm sure it was 102 years ago. I took it apart and cleaned it inside and out, slapped on a couple coats of paint, and installed a new power cord and wired it to a toggle switch.

As for the table, I decided to keep it. I liked it a lot, and was originally built for this saw back in the 1930s. I just sanded the years of grime from the table, and put a few coats of tung oil on the wood.

This was number 2 out of my 5 scroll saws that I currently own. Scroll Saw #1 went to my mom for her crafts, and this one is going to be a permanent resident in my shop. As for the other three, who knows. I do need to get rid of a couple of them.
