Bought this machine about a year ago and have been meaning to upload to the MS for some time. Went to pick up an Oliver lathe and this happened to be available - seller also had a 1940s Unisaw, but I really didn't need another one so I left it for some other lucky person.
This is a nice shaper to use - I have run a few hundred board feet over the time I've owned it and it performs well. I completely disassembled the machine and sanded and painted the body. Cleaned and painted the spindle carriage and waxed the ways and gears. The action is very smooth now - raising and lowering the spindle is effortless. I installed new lower bearings - upper bearing had been changed recently; this task is a lot easier on the PM than on the Delta shaper we redid at ArnFest '06. I also cleaned all the electrical contacts and rewired the reversing switch all the electricals now work properly. Came with complete original fence, motor cover and back door. Powered by a Robbins & Myers 1-1/2 hp single phase motor.
