I acquired this in a private sale from a friend of Jeff Singleton. It originalty came from the Firestone Tire Co. in Arkon,Ohio. The jointer has been sitting in outside storage for the last six years and was in desperate need of a restoration to its glorious past. This is one of three 16" Yates American jointers that I am restoring at the same time.I completely tore it down and cleaned ever part and piece of it.I replaced both ball bearings and every nut, bolt, screw, rivet, flat washer, lock washer and taper pin.I also replaced the magnetic starter and switch with brand new ones. This took about two weeks total from start to finish for each jointer. The beds and fence are straight and flat on this jointer so i saw no need to regrind them.I am making a new blade guard as the original one was broken and was missing some pieces. The machine is a direct drive,3 H.P.,220 volts, three phase. It has a four knife, round, saftey cutter head. The outfeed table tilts up or down by the means of a cam under the table wedge. The fence tilts up to 45 degrees for beveling, there is also a rabbiting shelf.
