I purchased this grinder (used) at ReTool on 31March2000.
I walked into the store and there it was, near-mint condition and complete with the owners manual. I had to have it.
Craftsman Industrial Rated bench grinder, model 257.192190, 8" x 1" face x 5/8" arbor.
1hp, 7.6/3.8A, 115/230V, 3580 idle rpm, extended shafts, exhaust guards and OEM lamp.
The end bells and guards are die cast aluminum.
Tool rests are two piece design, stamped steel.
The plastic eye shields are removed (I wear goggles).
Currently, the grinder is attached to a newer Craftsman imported cast iron and steel stand.
The left wheel is a 8" x 3/4" fine grit SiC, for grinding hard steels and ceramics.
The right wheel is the original 36grit aluminum oxide, for heavy grinding.
A Dustkop model 520 1/3hp cyclone metal dust collector (dumpster find) is spring clamped to the exhaust outlet on the right wheel. This dust collector is very handy.
UPDATE September 2015: I no longer own this grinder--sold to a fellow OWWMer.
