Ekstrom Carlson 112 Single Sided Oscillating Edge Sander Serial # 428, before photos.
This is one of the first machines I purchased at auction after moving to NC last year. It looks pretty original including what appears to be original paint. I sold my Powermatic edge sander from my old Maui shop so I had to replace it (juicy rationalization). This is definitely an upgrade for me.
I just recently got this set up in my new shop and started using it. It runs very smooth and about all I've done to it so far was go through the electricals and it looked like it could use a lube job. I greased 16 zerks and I think I've heard there are more. I'll check that out when I have more time.
The first time you see one of these in person you quickly realize this is a very good sized machine. From stem to stern she is about 8' long. It has a Howell 5HP drive motor driving an 8" x 164" belt with a 10" diameter x 10 1/2" tall, spiral grooved rubber covered drum. The tiltable table is 11" x 60", and the iron platen is 9" x 58" and covered with graphite pad.
This is a very smooth running machine and does a great job of sanding. I need to get it hooked up to the dust collector because this baby can remove some stock, fast. This is my first real edge sander and I like it.
