May have belonged to the British Columbia Building Corporation. Purchased at auction in July 2007. Original motor was 3hp 3ph and the planer is missing the variable speed drive belt. I need to swap the motor before I can use it as I am still a strictly single phase shop. Otherwise looks to be in good shape. I am hoping for no surprises! Very heavy machine (I forgot to weigh it before it left the shop with the scale. Now in my home shop so I have to guess at the weight - somewhere North of 500 lbs best estimate).
Original motor 3hp, 3ph, 1725 rpm, 230/460 volt, 8/4 amp, Frame 182T, TEFC and a built in Furnas starter with E type overloads.
The motor has been changed out to a 5hp 1ph motor, new set of knives installed and This machine purrs. I still need to make/find a new cover for the motor compartment.
Update: Single phase, 5hp motor and a new set of HSS knives have been installed. The transmission was opened up, cleaned inspected and re-oiled. The gears are in excellent shape and bearings and belts have been sources and replaced. The entire machine has been cleaned and adjusted. Overall, this is a very nice and powerful planer to use. It is also amazingly quiet which is a nice change from the universal motor Makita that I have been using. The only drawback may be the ability to find parts if and when needed. I am still looking for a front cover although this should be a pretty simple project if I would simply get motivated.
