Comments:
Found this machine on Craigslist. It seems to be in good shape, the bearings are tight and smooth, the 3/4 hp motor is sound, the variable speed system operates well. All it needs is a good cleaning and paint job.

It was sold by Brodhead and Garrett in their J-line series around 1971. Since they did not make their own equipment, it could be manufactured by anyone. It appears to be the same basic machine as a 1956 Atlas Wood Lathe Model 7122 listed on OWWM by c. a. rush, http://owwm.com/PhotoIndex/detail.asp?id=1684.

Update October 5, 2008. I finally got around to finihing this project, well almost. All that is left is to figure out what to put into the big square hole in the front and to hook up a magnetic switch. I'd like to find the little knob used to lift the lid of the headstock.
