Acquired at public auction in Pottstown,Pa.This saw is very similar to the Pettingell saw that i posted a couple of months ago. Both saws have a sliding table right of the blade and both are tilting arbor. Both have the blade raising handle back inside the frame. The tilt is located on the outside of the frame in the same location on both saws.
The American has a handle located on the end of the sliding table to adjust the width
of the gap between the blade and the table to accommodate for the different size dado
blades. The sliding table is inscribed with an index table of different degrees for mitre
cuts. Also the sliding table has a dovetail groove in the center of the table running 90 degrees to the blade for a swiveling gauge (Quadrant)that turns 90 degrees left or right. There is two fences that attach to the front and back of the sliding table for additional mitre work. These fences have removal rods with adjustable stops.I have both fences, one of the rods with the stop, one mitre gauge, arbor nut wrench and the swiveling quadrant. The saw came from the factory as a line shaft powered machine but was converted to a v-belt motor powered machine sometime in its 100 year plus life. The saw is in very good condition with no broken parts or castings. The fixed table to the left of the blade has one groove parallel to the blade for the mitre gauge. This table is 27 1/2" x 40"in size. The sliding table to the left of the blade is 40 1/2"x 32"in size and has a lock to make it fixed also. The blade arbor is 1 1/8" x 4" long and tilts 45 degrees to the left.
The blade will extend 4 1/2" above the top of the tables for ripping or cross cutting.
